Relatively Flat

Tomorrow the 3 of us are going on a short 3km walk and I didn’t want F and I to get out of practice while we wait for M to heal, so today the two of us went on a 4km walk, making that 7km over the weekend. I chose what Mike Lundy calls The Lion’s Rump for our walk, “a level walk along the lion’s back”.

Apparently my credibility is now shot, because it was not deemed level by F. It’s not like we were climbing up Lion’s Head or anything – in comparison it certainly was level! But I was in trouble for saying so.

The view was awesome when we started. A cool day with high cloud. The paragliders were out in full force.

If you look carefully at the picture below, you can see the clump of trees and a little white spot where the Kramat Of Mohamed Hassen Ghaibie is. This was our destination, and then we turn and walk back. F apparently blocks out that if you are walking downhill to your destination, and then you need to turn around and walk back, that the walk back will be uphill. I was in so much trouble when that happened!

Beautiful view of table mountain just covered.

A picture as we were walking towards the Kramat, of the path behind us up to Signal Hill. I’m glad I took this when I did, as the cloud descended while we were at the Kramat and we walked back through mist.

Our timing was a little out, as we spent about half an hour chatting to a man at the Kramat. It was a great walk and one I will do again any time. Driving down Signal Hill road in heavy mist with very little visibility was not great, but the walk made it worth it.
