Discovering parks

This morning we went walking around Harfield, discovering parks. There are a number of parks in the area but we rarely stop and take a look as we mostly notice them in our peripheral vision as we zoom past. Taking a walk around a neighborhood is a great way to SEE and NOTICE our surroundings.

Hampstead Park was the largest of the parks we walked through, in two sections.

Surrey park was next. This is a small enclosed park with a combination lock on the gate, to give access to nearby residents only.

There are a number of old trees in the neighborhood and I can’t resist taking photos of them.

Purley Park was next.

And last on our list was Princes Park.

We certainly walked with purpose today, taking a look at what little bits of nature were close by. This was a completely social walk, without any thought of speed or heart rate. It’s great to have those every now and then. You have to be able to stop and smell the roses (literally and figuratively) every once in a while. And besides, steps are still steps and exercise should be fun.
