Pocket of Nature

I was quite reluctant to go on this walk, mostly because by 5pm I am usually feeling quite lazy. But when you set out to walk every day, then you should walk every day. As Yoda says, do or do not, there is no try. So we did.

Shade was required, so the walk was along the M3 on the Upper Newlands Walking Route. If you are in Cape Town and you have never walked this 2.5km route, then I suggest you make a plan to get there. It’s shady, with beautiful trees and rock gardens.

Start off along the M3 and then walk down the road into Newlands Avenue. After you pass Forries, there is a little green belt where the natural spring pops up. You can walk through this green belt and get back to the M3 path. It’s a lovely area and popular with the nearby canine residents.

Once back on the path along the M3 there are some interesting trees and, as trees are becoming a thing for me, I naturally took some pictures.

This is a great walk for a lazy or an active day, with varying distances depending what roads you decide to take.
