With a chance of showers, we didn’t want to walk the next bit of the Camino – Peers Cave – so we opted instead for a walk in Canal Walk – the 5km parkrun route there. Our time for this route wasn’t that great, as there were too many things to stop and look at!
The route starts at the sports field at the entrance to Intaka Island, heads towards Ratanga Junction on one side of the canal, and then back to Intaka on the other side.

It was interesting to see Canal Walk and the surrounding buildings from the path as I usually drive by quickly. We also got to see the history of the buldings by picture.

And the birdlife.

And some art. We discovered we were walking along part of the Art Trail. See the details here.

We didn’t extend our walk into Intaka Island, do that’s still on the list to do.

Our map for the day, showing the path around Intaka and to Ratanga and back. The parkrun route is 5km as they go around the sportsfield as they start, which we didn’t do.
